Overview

We invite proposals for workshops and special topic sessions to be held as part of the technical program of the SUI Symposium. The purpose of workshops and special sessions is to bring participants with shared interests together to discuss a focused topic relevant to the symposium themes to exchange ideas and share latest research findings and technical outcomes.

While the format of a special session can be similar to a regular session of the technical program, a workshop can be organized in a more interactive and informal manner like a mini-conference and could last up to a half day. The organizers can also choose to hold their workshop or special session in either an in-person or hybrid mode.

Workshops can accept abstracts, research papers and position papers. Depending on the choice of the organizers, all peer-reviewed submissions of workshops and special sessions can be included in the ACM Digital Library as part of the proceedings of the SUI Symposium.

Submission Instructions

Proposal submissions can be directed by email to workshop@sui.acm.org using the subject “SUI 2023 workshop and special topic session proposal”. Please provide a WORD or PDF document containing:

• Type of the session: workshop or special topic session
• Title:
• Presentation mode: in person or hybrid
• Brief description on topics to be discussed or addressed: explain the goal of the proposed session, how the papers will be solicited, and why it is of interest to the conference participants.
• Expected number of participants and submissions:
• A list of potential paper titles and contributing authors with affiliations (optional):
• Organizers (we expect a minimum of two organizers): names, affiliations and short bio.
• Potential program committee members:

We will acknowledge the receipt of your proposals. The committee will review all proposals received, and notifications of acceptance will be sent out after the review period.

We expect that organizers are proactive in the field and that at least one organizer will attend the workshop or special topic session they are organizing. The accepted workshops and special topic sessions will be listed on the symposium website. Note that it is up to the organizers to solicit and handle the paper submissions and reviews. The review system and final acceptance decisions will be manged by the workshop and special session chairs.
