Format
ACM SUI will be held Fri Oct 30 through Sun Nov 1 primarily between 8am and 1pm Eastern time (see program schedule for details). All attendees must register to receive the information necessary to connect to the conference via Zoom and Discord. One author from each paper and poster must register for a small fee. Registration is free for all other attendees.
Paper presentations: Paper presentations will be prerecorded and available for you to watch prior to the conference on YouTube. During the conference, the prerecorded videos will be played back live (according to the published schedule) followed by a Q&A session via Zoom. This format allows you to watch the paper presentations at a time that is convenient to you while still allowing you to be present for the Q&A. In addition, each paper will have their own chat room in Discord for conversations related to the paper.
Poster & Demo presentations: Posters and Demonstrations will be presented via Discord at designated times. Each poster will have a voice/video room and a text room in Discord.
Keynote: A keynote presentation will occur live at the beginning of the conference via Zoom.
Awards: A short awards ceremony will occur live at the conclusion of the conference via Zoom.
Social interaction: Attendees are encouraged to interact with each before, during, and after the conference via SUI's Discord server. Spaces will be available for conversations via text, voice, and video.
Accessibility
SUI values the diversity of our community and aims to be an accessible and inclusive conference. If you have any questions or concerns about accessibility, please contact the conference General Chairs at general@sui.acm.org, and they will work with you to address your concerns. Note that some requests may require advance notice, so please submit accessibility requests as far in advance of the conference date as possible in order to give us adequate time to prepare.
Policy Against Harassment at ACM Activities
The open exchange of ideas is central to the Association for Computing Machinery’s mission. This requires an environment that embraces diversity and provides a safe, welcoming environment for all. The most recent policies can be found at acm.org.
SIGCHI CARES exists to serve as a resource for those who experience discrimination and/or harassment around our professional events. CARES supports such individuals by allowing them to work with established members of the SIGCHI community, who are approachable and willing to listen and help navigate the SIGCHI and ACM reporting and accountability process. SIGCHI CARES is chaired by Shaowen Bardzell (Vice President at Large, SIGCHI EC). Learn more about SIGCHI CARES or contact SIGCHI CARES at sigchi-cares@acm.org.
